On Oct 26th, the Friendsfactory Baskets traveled to Freiburg to collect another two points. Full of energy started the Friendsfactory Baskets into the game taking a 17:23 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the guests showed great team Basketball, extending the lead and going 25:40 into halftime. Even the zone defense in the second half couldn't effect the Baskets as the beginning, and the guests were leading by 19points at one time. However, then the hosts turned it up, and started to cut down the lead. With 6Min to go, the hosts had cut the lead to 11points, but they wouldn't stop. They kept being aggressive, while the Baskets seemed intimitated, and it happened what seemed impossible. The hosts came within one point. Freiburg had 8seconds left, all attempts to foul failed, and with 0.8sec left, Freiburg scored a basket to take a 67-66 lead, which was enough to take the win.

Lucky end
On Sunday, Oct 20th, the Friendsfactory Baskets hosted DJK Bamberg for a Bavarian Derby. Both teams had to play without a starting5 player, Bamberg without Mayberry, and the Baskets without Juliane. The game started off well for the Baskets, and at halftime the hosts already had a 13pt-lead (46-33), which they also kept for the third quarter, ending 64 - 50. Little things
This time it wasn't the zone that brought the Friendsfactory Baskets to fall, but the little things - communication on defense, turnovers or missed shots that you have to make. Oberhausen seemed to be more focused, and did the easy things right such as finding the open player or the mismatch and turning steals into baskets. Already in the first quarter, the Friendsfactory Baskets showed where the current problems are, scoring only 8pts in the first 10minutes. Also, at halftime the guests were still down by 4pts, which wouldn't change in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Oberhausen played well together, figured the zone of the Friendsfactory Baskets out, and went from 46-42 (30th min) to 60-44. At the end, the guests were able to cut the lead down, but couldn't prevent the second loss of the season.
However, not everything was negative, so did find Morgan Henderson her shot, knocking down 3 three-pointers. Also, the rebound work from the Friendsfactory Baskets got better, allowing Oberhausen only 6 offensive rebounds. Still, there is a lot to work on to get back on the winning street.

Not today
The Friendsfactory Baskets will get their second win of the season, but it wasn't today against the ChemCats! Even though the start was promising, and the hosts could take an early lead, and go 20-12 into the second quarter, this lead wouldn't last too long. Within the second quarter, the Friendsfactory Baskets were able to get a 11-point-lead (32-21, 16th min), but then the guests changed their defense to zone, and started pressing full court, which gave the team of Coach Holesovsky problems. The lead diminished to 4 points at halftime (34-30), and was gone by the end of the third quarter (43-45). Also, in the fourth quarter, the Friendsfactory Baskets seemed to find no solution against the zone, and the ChemCats could extend the lead easily and win the game by 14pts (53-67). Even though the hosts had a terrible shooting percentage, the guests didn't have a better one. Most difference was the amount of free throws both teams shot. While the hosts only got 11 FTs (made 6), the guests were allowed to go 32 times to the line, making 21.
Juliane had her first double-double of the season, scoring 13pts, grabbing 11reb, dishing 5asts, stealing 3times the ball, and blocking 2shots.

Panthers win Bronze medal
On May 3rd, the first of two games for place 3 was played in Freiburg. Once again the Panthers had to play without their Starting Power Forward Jessica Höötmann, who still hadn't been declared to play.
The game was close over most parts of the game. In the third quarter, the Panthers managed to take a small lead with the help of Juliane, who knocked down her jumpers. In the fourth quarter, the Panthers increased their lead by as many as 11-points due to a defense change. However within the last few minutes the hosts were able to get wide open shots caused by the moments of abstraction, and were able to tie the game within regular playing time at 62-62. An overtime wasn't played since only the point difference in the third place game are important.

On Sunday, May 5th, the Panthers hosted the last game of the season, and a win would mean a medal, a loss would only bring flowers. The Panthers started off well, taking a lead early and extending it until the halftime (35:26). But the Friday game taught the hosts that even a double-digit lead doesn't mean anything, if you don't defend it, and even though the Panthers were warned, they let Freiburg come back. Slowly, but surely the guests cut down the lead more and more and after 40minutes, the score was once again tied (65-65). In overtime, the guests were a little ahead, and the Panthers had to keep up. With 2minutes to go, the Panthers were down 4, but Juliane knocked down a jumper and Angela Pace made both of her free throws to tie the game. Freiburg scored again, and Ali Schwagmeyer hit only 1 of ther 2 free throws. Freiburg ended up turning the ball over, and the Panthers had the ball and needed to score. With 7seconds left, Francis Donders hit a jumper to make it 72-71. The guests managed to get a shot off, but it didn't go in, and the Panthers won the Bronze medal!!!

The Dream didn't come true
On Friday, April 26th, the Panthers traveled to Rhein-Main with the chance of moving into the final. However, the first half looked like the Panthers gave this chance away very easily. After a 14-9 score at the end of the first quarter, the Rhein-Main Baskets increased their lead to 11-points as half time. By the Panthers, Juliane had to take a seat on the bench with three early fouls. Also, in the third quarter the Panthers didn't manage to cut the lead down, and went into the last quarter with a 12-point-deficit. Although it nearly seemed impossible to turn this game around, the Panthers never gave in. Led by a strong Angela Pace, the guests really managed a comeback. Rhein-Main also made it very easy for the Panthers by missing half of their free throws, and within the last few seconds of the game, the Panthers tied the game and forced overtime. Unfortunately, in overtime the hosts were stronger and took a 81-77 victory home. Very impressive was Angela Pace performance with 26pts and 18rebounds. The Rhein-Main Baskets hit only 26 of their 53 free throws (49%).

On Sunday, April 28th, the third game of the semifinals was played and this time the Panthers had again homecourt advantage. Unfortunately, the hosts were handicapped since Jessica Höötmann wasn't able to play due to sickness.
Even though one of the starting five players was missing, the Panthers started the game of well, taking a 19-14-point lead at the end of the fourth quarter. In the second quarter, the Rhein-Main Baskets managed to come back since Osnabrück was struggeling on offense, scoring only 10points this quarter. With 29-29 started the second half, however the Rhein-Main Baskets went on a 0-7 run and Osnabrück didn't manage to find their rhythm. The quarter ended 11-27 for the Rhein-Main Baskets and brought the decision for the game. The Panthers weren't able to make another comeback like Friday night, and fell short with 62-79. Main reason for the loss was the high turnover rate, and the missing inside game. While the Rhein-Main Baskets could celebrate the participation of the final, the Panthers will have to play for third place now.

Panthers move into the semifinals!
After winning their first play off game vs. Heli Donau-Ries, the panthers missed out on their first chance of finishing the series on Friday. The Panthers lost 70-50 in a hard fought game. Juliane scored 12 of those 23 points. In second half, the refs decided to make 4 quick bad calls for Juliane (three seconds, defensive foul, double foul, and a technical foul), which caused Juliane to take her seat on the bench. All other players seemed to have a very bad shooting day, which caused the Panthers to fall behind. Five minutes before the end, Coach Kaiser took his starters off the court, so they could rest already for sundays game.

Panthers win first Play-off Game
On April 7th, the Panthers hosted Donau-Ries for the first Play Off game. Donau-Ries had to play without their injured point guard Amanda Rego, who broke her pinky. This is a big loss for the team since she is the leader on the court. The Panthers took their chance and were leading 22-12 after the first quarter. Also in the second quarter, the Panthers shined with great team play and were able to break the 1-3-1 zone of Donau-Ries easily. They connected for 11assists in the first half, which lead to a 37-26 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, the hosts had trouble scoring and Donau-Ries was able to tie the game on a buzzer three pointer at the end of the third quarter (45-45). The fourth quarter was a close one, but the Panthers had the better end winning the game 69-65.

Bad finish of a good season
The last gameday in the DBBL could bring a lot of changes. For the GiroLive Panthers was the question, if they would finish third or fourth, and who would be their play off opponent.
The Panthers started good into the game, gaining a lead as Juliane scored 6pts in a row, followed by two baskets of Ali Schwagmeyer to make it 10-2. In the 7th minute, Coach Kaiser was called for a technical foul and from then on the Panthers game broke in. Bamberg caught fire, especially their two guards Miller and Drammeh. At halftime, the scoreboard showed a 9-point-defizit, but Bamberg already had scored 50pts!
In the second half, the defense became better, but the Panthers weren't able to score anymore. In both quarters, the hosts scored only 9points, and therefore took a bitter loss. Bamberg won the game 59-87 and saved therefore their stay in the league. The Panthers still finished third, because Donau-Ries lost as well.

The Top3
The GiroLive Panthers had to play three hard games in a row. Starting of with Wolfenbüttel at home, the Panthers wanted revenge for the 97-49 blow out in the first game. It was a close game all of the time, and with a few seconds to go, the Panthers had the ball and were down by one, but instead of scoring the ball was turned over, and the Wildcats would knock down both of their free throws to get a 71-68 Win.
The next two games were the two farthest roadtrips in the league. First, the bus took the Panthers to Donau-Ries. It was their chance to get a win, after Amanda Rego was out with a broken pinky. The Panthers used that chance, and brought home a 63-66 victory.
In the last of the top3 games, the Panthers traveled once again down south to face Wasserburg. Even though there was a 20point-deficit at halftime, the Panthers fought back and came within 7points in the fourth quarter, but then the Panthers missed their chance to come closer, and ended up losing 60-71 to Wasserburg.

Panthers book a Play Off Seat
The Panthers traveled to Rotenburg on Saturday without any pressure. That's also how the Panthers came out, and put their game on the Hurricanes. After 10minutes, the Panthers were leading already 8-19, supported by a few of their fans. Also, in the second quarter, the Panthers kept control even though the first five got some rest on the bench. At halftime, the team of Head Coach Kaiser was still up by 15points (25-40). Also, in the second half, the hurricanes didn't seem to have anything to conter, so that the Panthers continued to extend the lead (+18, 30th minute). In the fourth quarter, the hosts had a short come-back with some threes, but the Panthers wouldn't let them come any closer than 12points and extanded it back to 22points to finish the game with 50-88. With this win the Panthers booked a play-off seat and will now fight in the last four games for the best position.

Finally secured
Cats eat birds, also on Sunday the Panthers beard the USC Freiburg. Even though Freiburg had a fast start, the Panthers came back, taking a 14-10 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, it was possible to extend the lead, also due to a lot of turnovers by Freiburg, which resulted in a 27-20 Panthers lead at halftime. In the third quarter, the Panthers kept sharing the ball, which resulted in some wide open lay-ups, which was used to a 43-36. However, Freiburg wouldn't back down. They started to come back and tie the game at 46-46 before the Panthers kept their heads and brought a 55-46 win home. With this win, the Panthers also secured the stay in the league and can now aim for bigger things such as the play offs.

In-between the Panthers were up by 10points, but the athmosphere of the Herne fans didn't reflect that. In the last quarter, the Panthers didn't play smart enough and fell 76-72 (21-11 in the last quarter) to Herne, who was able to hit all their free throws.

Finally a home win
After 6wins on the road, and 2 at home, it was time to get another home win. The Panthers were hoping to accomplish that against the SV Lions. After a good first quarter, with a lot of ball movement, the Panthers took a 19-16 lead. Everything looked promising until then, but then the roller coaster ride started again, after an up followed a down. Way too many turnovers on Panthers side resulted in easy lay ups for the Lions, and also the shots weren't falling anymore. The Panthers scored only 4 points in this quarter, going into halftime with a 23-29 deficit.
In the third quarter, Jasmine Byrd took over and scored 3 three-pointer in a row, to bring the Panthers back. Going into the last quarter, the Panthers were up 46-41, and the audience was able to experience a close game. Shortly before the end, the Lions were leading 53-49, but Juliane scored 4points in a row, to tie the game. A tip in by Angela Pace brought the Panthers two poinst in front (57-55). Then Lions' Forward Tatham ran Juliane over, but instead of punishing her with an offensive foul, the refs called an intentional foul on Jessica Höötmann, which could be game-deciding. Tatham only made one of the two free throws, and the Lions received the ball back. However, they weren't able to score, instead Kennedy passed the ball out of bounce, so that the Panthers had the ball back with 57-56 and 9seconds to go. The Lions hadn't reached the foul limit yet, so that they had to foul quick three times in a row. Ali Schwagmeyer knocked down both of her free throws, and the Lions had 6 seconds left to score a three-pointer to go into overtime. Kennedy got a shot of, but the rebounds fell in Juliane's hands as the signal sound. Panthers win 59-56 at home!

Strong on the road
The GiroLive Panthers have been great on the road the whole season, and so also in Marburg. They literally ran Marburg over in the first quarter, taking a 12-point-lead (17-29). With a lot of Fast Breaks and high percentage shots, the Panthers would dominate, and also keep this lead for the rest of the first half (30-40). Even though Marburg managed to cut the lead down each quarter a bit, the Panthers were still up 45-53 going into the fourth quarter. Then fatigue set in, and Marburg was able to tie the game due to help from Davidson with a couple threes and White's lay up. By the score of 61-61 the Marburger Fans thought they could celebrate a win for the night, but the Panthers didn't like that thought. With a three-pointer by Jasmine Byrd, a basket by Ali Schwagmeyer and Juliane Höhne, the Panthers finished the game 63-69 and won their 6th game on the road.

Not Smarter than the first time
The GiroLive Panthers lose 52-68 to Oberhausen and show that they aren't smarter after the last loss against them. After a 4-0 lead, Osnabrück woke up taking a 14-8 lead, before Oberhausen finished the quarter 15-16 to go into the second quarter. The second quarter was a total disaster. The guests played clever, switching most of the screens and the Panthers weren't able to use the miss-matches. Oberhausen was able to score as they wanted, while the Panthers had their troubles getting the ball inside and getting good shots. Going into the lockers at half-time, Oberhausen had a 9-point-lead (25-34). In the third quarter, the Panthers woke up and showed that they can play Basketball. Finally the miss-matches were used, the open man was found, and the lead of Oberhausen diminished to just one point. However, Oberhausen hit a three, and took a 46-50 lead in the fourth quarter. Then it was head over heals again, everyone of the Panthers tried to win the game themselves, instead of doing it together, and Oberhausen punished the Panthers for that, ending the game 52-68, improving to four victories in the league, leaving the Panthers with still seven wins.

Good Start in the New Year
After a weekend off, since the GiroLive Panthers aren't qualified for the cup anymore, the team of Head Coach Christian Kaiser traveled to Langen to play their first game of the back round. Everyone knew that it wouldn't be the same game like at the beginning of the season. Rhein-Main had three injured players back then, who were now able to play again, and the American Forward Beliveau wasn't back then part of the team yet.
The Panthers started the game off well, running a lot of fast breaks and taking a 26-15 lead after the first quarter. The rest of the game both teams played equally with Rhein-Main not being able to cut down the lead significantly until the end of the third quarter (45-53). However, in the forth quarter the game got close once again, which resulted in panic on the Panther side and players trying to score baskets all by themselves, which did not work. Thankfully, the Panthers found back to old strength, playing their systems and sealing the game 70-65.

End of the first round
The second half of the first round didn't go too well for the GiroLive Panthers. At first, they had to take a terrible Blow-out in Wolfenbüttel, where they lost 97-49. This was followed by 12-point-loss (67-79) against the top-team Donau-Ries at home. After a weekend off, Oberhausen kicked the GiroLive Panthers out of the Cup with a 88-66 win. This 3-game-losing streak needed to end, and the GiroLive Panthers put it to an end with a 78-70 win in Bamberg to make it the 6th win of the season. The last game before Christmas was played at home against top favorit Wasserburg, who also showed its strength and won the game 55-81. Therefore, the GiroLive Panthers finish the first round of the season with a record of 6-5, and are placed 6th in the table. The next game will be on January 13th in Langen, against the Rhein-Main Baskets.

Thriller
On Nov 11th, the Panthers faced the rivals from Rotenburg. Both teams were 4-2, but Rotenburg just had lost their Head Coach, which could be an advantage for the Panthers. The Panthers started off well, especially the post players Jessica Höötmann and Juliane Höhne were dominating in the paint. The Panthers were leading in-between most of the time, but to halftime the lead diminished to 41-39. In the second half, the defense of the Panthers wasn't on point, and the game promised to be close. Within the last 6minutes, the Panthers were leading, but only were able to score one other basket, so that even the 6-point-advantage dimished. With 20seconds left, the scoreboard showed 72-72, and Angela Pace had the chance to seal the deal, but missed her wide open lay-up, so that both teams went in overtime.
In overtime, Rotenburg was quick to score, and lead already by 5points. The Panthers needed a steal, and decided to foul. Unfortunately, it was Juliane's 5th foul, but Rotenburg wasn't able to make the free throws, which gave the Panthers another chance. This time it was Angela Pace, who went strong to the basket and scored to tie the game at 83-83. In the second overtime, it was the same picture, Rotenburg scored easily, taking a 5-point-lead, but then it was Jessica Höötmann and Alison Schwagmeyer, who both nailed a three and took the lead for the first time. The Panthers wouldn't give up the lead again and finished the game 95-91 to get the 5th win for the Panthers.

Team Work pays off
On Nov 2rd, the Panthers traveled to the south of Germany to face Freiburg on Saturday night. The Panthers had a great start in the game, coming out 15-4, but then Freiburg woke up and cut the lead back to 17-15 after the first quarter. At the beginning of the second, they even took a 2-point-lead with 19-17 before the Panthers countered again to make it 35-27 at halftime. The Panthers played some of their best Basketball this season so far, and were able to extend the lead to as many as 20points in the fourth quarter (74-54). However,a lucky three by Freiburg resulted in the final score of 76-59. It was a great team effort and a well played game, which puts the Panthers now 4-2.

Quick Work in Hanover
On Halloween, the Panthers traveled to Hanover for their first cup game. The gym was very cold, which motivated the Panthers to make this game as short as possible. This was shown in the first quarter by a score of 29-6, and 41-15 at halftime. In the second half, the second five got to play more and Ali Schwagmeyer and Michelle Müller got to rest this day. The Panthers finished the game 80-45 and move into the third round, where they will face Oberhausen on Dec 8th at home.

Duty fullfilled
On Sunday, Oct 28th, the Panthers hosted Herne in their second home game. It was a tough match-up since Herne was still hungry for their first win, and it was a must win for the Panthers.
The hosts had a great start in the game with a 10-0 lead, but then Herne came back. These few minutes seemed to reflect the whole game. The Panthers escaped to around 10-points and then Herne came back. The Panthers never managed to pull away further and finish the game early. Instead, Herne was able to tie the game at 62-62, when Jessica Höötmann netted a few of her shots to give them an early 69-64 lead to seal the game. The rest of the game, the Panthers just had to know down free throws to make it 72-66 at the end.

Tough Loss
The Panthers took a tough loss against Halle on Saturday night. The first half was a catastrophy and Halle was able to score 49pts in just 20min against 37 from Osnabrück. Halle received a lot of help from the refs, who called 2 technical fouls and allowed Halle to shoot a lot of free throws. In the second half, Osnabrück came out stronger, but wasn't able to cut the lead down. They fell 71-82 to Halle. Biggest difference in the game were the many free throws for Halle, they shot 34 (making 29 of them), while Osnabrück hit only 8 out of their 16.

Lesson taught
In the third game of the season, and the first at home, the Panthers took a big loss. Marburg came out strong and led from the start (10:2) and they wouldn't look back. Already after 10min they were leading 16:27 and repeated the same in the 2nd quarter to take a 20point lead at halftime (53-33)!!! Especially Amanda Davidson was on fire for the guests, hitting 21pts by 5 from 5 behind the arc. By the Panthers on the other side, nothing would go in! After the first quarter, the Panthers only hit 29% of their shots, while Marburg made 65% of theirs!
In the second half, the Panthers fought and wouldn't give up, but it wasn't enough for a comeback. The second half was tight, so that Marburg won the game by 20points (64-84).

2nd game, 2nd victory, 2nd place
The Panthers traveled for their 2nd game to Oberhausen, who is known to be a very aggressive team and not to give up points easily. After a tough start, the Panthers came back to their old strength, getting on the glass and running fast break, so that they were able to take a one-point lead into the lockers. In the second half, the Panthers seemed to be ready to take their 2nd win home. However, after a 9-point-lead, Oberhausen was able to cut the lead back down. Suddenly, Oberhausen tied the game at 58-58. Shortly later Sarah Zierhut was able to take a 61-60 lead by making one of her two free throws, before Angela Pace made a layup by tipping the ball in to make it 61-62. With four seconds left, Ali Schwagmeyer took a charge to give the Panthers the ball back, and even though they weren't able to hit the last two free throws, Oberhausen didn't have enough time left to make another basket, which brought the 61-62 win for the Panthers.

Good Start in the Season
On September 29th, the Panthers started in the new season, with the first game at the Season Opening in Marburg they faced the Rhein-Main Baskets. After problems with wrong positioned baskets, and a lot of missed shots the panthers found in the game. Led by Jasmine Byrd, who was on fire, so that the panthers could claim a 13-11 lead after the first quarter. Unfortunately, the point guard Angela Pace was already in foul trouble and had to stay on the bench, but youngster Melli Knopp did a good job replacing her. The panthers were able to extend the lead to halftime (37-28).
After the halftime, Rhein-Main was able to make a comeback, helped by a new rule that cost the panthers a lot of fouls (7 team fouls to 0). Rhein-Main was able to tie the game and even advance to 43-45. However, at the end it were the panthers, who showed more will and pulled out the 76-66 victory.

Promotion accomplished
With a 68-37 (29-14) victory over Chenove in a 35°C warm gym, the UFAB girls accomplished the promotion to League 2 as they finished 2nd place behind Pau due to their victory over St. Etienne.
Missed Chance
UFAB49 had this weekend the chance to be promoted early. With a win over St. Etienne, UFAB would have secured one of the two promotion seats. However, the team missed this chance. On Saturday, May 26th, hosting St. Etienne, who UFAB had beaten twice before, things weren't going perfect. At first, St. Etienne refused to give the hosts their bench, so that UFAB was forced to play at the opposite site as usual, and then the guests were on fire the whole night. UFAB came out strong, stealing a few balls on defense, taking a 6-4 lead, and winning the first quarter with 16-11. However, the second quarter belonged to the guests, who outscored UFAB 23-10 to take a 8-point-lead at halftime (26-34). At halftime, UFAB's point guard was in foul trouble with 3 fouls already, while the guests had foul problems by the post players. This used UFAB clever at the beginning of the second half, dominating inside, and cutting the lead down step by step. In the third quarter, UFAB was able to gain the lead 48-45 (28th min), which they would lose just a minute later (48-49). Also, the fourth quarter was dominated by the guests with their guards Crealock and Mpaka being on fire, scoring all their outside shots. Two minuted before the end, the only question was how high this loss would be. UFAB was well aware to keep the loss below 11points to win the direct comparison with St. Etienne. With 3.7sec left, it was said not to foul in a two or let them hit a three-point shot since the difference was 9pts, but exactly that's what happened. Crealock took a last second three out of the corner, which went in, leaving St. Etienne in tears of joy and the UFAB girls in tears of sadness due to a 74-62 loss. Now the UFAB girls have one chance left to move up to LF2, but therefore a win next weekend is neccessary.

Champions Trophée Coupe de France
On Saturday, May 19th, UFAB faced St. Etienne at the Cup Final in Paris Bercy.
Even though the UFAB girls were supported by nearly 150 fans, who traveled all the way to support their team, the UFAB girls seemed scared and didn't come out strong. The first points scored were through free throws, and followed late in the game after St. Etienne had already advanced to 10-2. After subbing out the starting five, the UFAB girls showed more confidence and adjusted to the hard play of the game, finishing the first quarter 10-20. In the second half, UFAB was able to cut the lead down some more, going into the lockers with a score of 30-34. In the second half, the UFAB girls showed their strength of playing together, taking over the lead. However, the game remained close. Shortly before the end, the scoreboard showed 60-60, when Aurelie Favre hit a three-pointer to make it 63-60 with one minute left. Sophie LeMarrec made one of her two free-throws to extend the lead to 64-60. However, then it was Mpaka of St. Etienne, who hit a three-pointer of the glass to cut the lead to one (64-63). Favre was fouled immediately to stop the clock and scored one of two, making it 65-63 with 11sec left. The UFAB girls, who had not passed the team foul limit, used their fouls wisely. With just 2.7sec left, St. Etienne was able to get a shot off, which didn't go in, leaving UFAB with the Trophée de Coupe de France (65-63)!

One point is enough
This were the words of UFAB's capitain before the game, and she should be right. UFAB was hosted by Charnay on May 12th, and came out strong. Elise Prodhomme and Carine Brossais were on fire, hitting 4 threes and a jumper in the first 3min to take a 6-16 lead, before Charnay was forced to take a timeout. Charnay stepped up there outside defense, therefore the post players were able to score, and UFAB took a 6-20 lead after two baskets by Juliane Höhne. Charnay finally seemed to wake up, cutting down the lead to 26-18 after the first quarter. The second quarter, Charnay won 17-9 to tie the score at halftime (35-35) after an injury of Aurelie Besson, who was unable to continue to play this evening.
Also, in the second half, the game promised to be close. At the beginning, Charnay took a 43-39 lead (25th), before UFAB found back to their old strength paced by Johnna Cortinovis, scoring all of her points during this quarter. At the end of the 3rd quarter, UFAB was leading 43-50. Then it was once again, Charnay, who managed to cut the lead down to 49-52. Shortly before the end, UFAB turned the ball over, and committed a hard foul on Charnay's point guard, who managed to score the shot anyways, and take a 54-52 lead with barely 40seconds left. Charnay missed the free throw, giving UFAB the chance to tie the game. Charnay tried to double on the ball, leaving Juliane Höhne wide open under the basket. Served by a great pass by Aurelie Favre, Juliane made the layup with a foul. After a timeout and moving the fans away from the baseline, Juliane converted the free throw to give UFAB a 55-54 point lead with 26seconds left. Once again it came down to UFAB's defensive strength, which was on point! Charnay was forced to take a tough shot, and the rebound landed in UFAB's hand. With this victory and the loss of Pau at Chenove, UFAB is now the leader in the play-off group after winning all four play-off games.

Three in a row
UFAB hosted Chenove for the third playoff game on Saturday May 5th. Even though Chenove only had one victory in the playoff-table, they have been a good team, which plays well together. This also showed in the game from the beginning. UFAB was able to run quick fast breaks to get to easy points, but overslept on the defensive end, which brought Chenove some easy baskets as well. In the first quarter, both teams played equally, finishing 17-16 for the quests. Then the guests went on a 10-0 run to take the score to 27-16. However, UFAB pulled themselves together, and was able to gain the lead back until halftime (33-31). From then on, it was the same picture throughout the game. UFAB would establish a lead, which Chenove would cut down. In the 26th min, UFAB was up 40-31 before Chenove cut it back to 42-40. Then, it was again Elise Prodhomme, who would bring back a 11-point-lead (55-44) before, Chenove closed the gap to 59-56. However, UFAB stayed cool and brought the win home with a final score of 62-56.
With this win, UFAB is the only team that won all games in the play-offs so far, and moved into second place as Pau beat St. Etienne.

The first beats the first
Saturday, April 27th, UFAB traveled to St. Etienne to take on the first seated team in Group B. St. Etienne was handled as the favorite, since they had lost only one game this season, and had the home court advantage. However, UFAB showed that they didn't travel 6hours to take a loss home. After the first 3pointer by St. Etienne, it was UFAB who controlled the game (5-11, 5th min), finishing the first quarter with a 17-10 advantage. Also, in the second quarter, UFAB didn't give St. Etienne a chance to come back, taking a 15-point-lead at halftime (24-39). After the break, the hosts cut the lead down to 9 points (35-44, 27th min), but UFAB was able to extend it again to 11 before the break (39-50). Then the UFAB girls started to get nervous. St. Etienne knocked shots down, and the fans of St. Etienne seemed to be back. The hosts came within 4points (48-52, 35th min), before UFAB came back to old strengths and took a 14point-lead and all hopes of St. Etienne, who was able to knock down a 3 in the last second for the final score of 57-68. With this win and the loss of Pau at Charnay Macon (67-70), the cards for the play offs are new mixed.

Regular Season Champs II
On April 22nd, Juliane coached the last regular season game for the Regionale 2 team. The team won 57-38 over Cholet JF, secured therefore the first place, and will now be playing on May 5th/6th in the Championship game. The team is also still in the cup semifinals as well, which will be played on May 12th.
Good Start in the Play-offs
UFAB49 hosted for their first play off game Charnay Macon, the same team they played in the cup quarterfinals. Also, this time UFAB49 had the better start, jumping out on a 12-2 lead, before Charnay was able to score a few baskets. The first quarter, UFAB finished with a 16-9 lead, which they were able to extend through out the whole first half. At halftime, UFAB was leading by 13points (30-17). Also, in the second half, UFAB continued to control the game, taking a 46-24 lead in the 27th min. Head Coach Girandiere used this chance to put in some of the second five players, which weren't able to use their playing time wisely. The lead would diminish with every minute, so that the coach was forced to put back in the first five by a score of 54-45 with just 5minutes left. The UFAB girls were able to extend once again the lead to double digits, and finished the game 64-49.

40 Minutes until Bercy
"40Minutes until Bercy" was the key to the game on Sunday, April 15th. UFAB, who just had played 17hrs ago, faced Poire in the semifinal of the cup, while St. Etienne was facing Villeurbanne in Pessac.
UFAB had beaten Poire already twice before in the regular season and once in pre-season, however, the cup has its own rules, and that's also how the beginning of the game looked. Poire was confident hitting all their shots, while Angers missed some lay ups and committed some early turnovers. However, UFAB was able to keep a 19-16 lead after the first quarter. Juliane scored 7 of the 19points with being fouled hard twice in lay-ups, but making both of them. In the second quarter, UFAB took over control. Poire seemed to not be able to make any shots at all, losing this quarter 21-3, which gave UFAB a 40-19 halftime lead! Also in the second half, UFAB was the pacemaker of the game, trying to stay focused until the end, which they were, finishing the 3rd quarter 26-13, and the 4th with 19-12. After a great 75-44 victory, the gym was celebrating their team, who accomplished again to move into the cup final, which will be held on May 19th 13.00 in Paris Bercy.
The UFAB girls will face St. Etienne, who beat Villeurbanne 86-72.

CUP Quarterfinals
On Saturday, April 14th, the Cup Quarterfinals were played. Two of them in Pessac: St. Etienne vs. Wasquehal (81:62), and Colomiers vs. Villeurbanne (79:87), while two others were hosted by UFAB49: Aulnoye vs. Poire-sur-Vie (38:69), and UFAB49 vs. Charnay.
UFAB49 was facing Charnay, the 3rd placed team of Group B, who they will also face in their first play off game next weekend. The UFAB girls started off the game with a 8:0 run before the guests were able to score. However, the guests were able to close the gap and keep up with the hosts. At halftime, UFAB was leading 37-33. In the second half, UFAB stepped up their defense, finishing the quarter 30-15, putting Charnay 67-47 behind. UFAB was able to keep the 19-point lead until the end, improving to the semifinal with a 82-63 win over Charnay.

Outworked
Last weekend, the UFAB girls took a heavy loss. They traveled to the 3rd placed team Poitiers to play for two important points in the play offs. However, on UFAB49 side two players were missing, back-up Point Guard Melodie DeSousa and Shooting Guard Elise Prodhomme. Therefore, a former first team member and currently NF2 player, Agnes Boisiaud, made the trip to Poitiers.
Right from the start, Poitiers showed their home court advantage, taking over the lead. The UFAB girls seemed to always be a step slower or a shot shorter. At halftime, the hosts were leading 41-35, and also the third quarter shouldn't change anything. Actually, the UFAB girls kept falling behind more and more, and were down at one point by as many as 18points! In the last quarter, the guests seemed to find back to old strength, fighting back into the game. However it was almost too late, with just 4minutes left, Poitiers was still leading by 13points. However, two 3pointers by Aurelie Besson and another basket by UFAB cut the lead down to 5 with less than a minute on the clock. UFAB was forced to foul, but the hosts would knock down their free throws, so that UFAB49 took their 2nd loss of the season with 81-75. This loss hurts especially since UFAB will now start with a 4-4 record into the play offs instead of 6-2. However, UFAB49 kept the first place in the table since Pau took a 62-58 loss at 11th seated Mondeville.

Happy End
On Saturday, March 17th, UFAB had to play against Nantes in the cup. It was the third time both teams met, and the first two times it was always UFAB, who left the court as winner (with 19 and 37pts), but the cup has its own rules. This had to experience the host right from the start. They had some great looks inside, but nothing would go in. For about 5min the score was 0-0 before the guests were able to score the first basket. The first quarter ended 8-7 for the hosts. The second quarter was a total catastrophy. LeMarrec and Höhne had already 2fouls and had to sit on the bench, which forced the small forward Brossais to step inside at times to take over the Power Forward position. At halftime, the scoreboard showed a score of 10-20 for the guests.
In the second half, at first things didnt get better either. LeMarrec took her 3rd and 4th foul within a min, and the guests took over a 14point-lead. However, the UFAB girls didn't give up and kept cutting down the lead. Favre scored two important three pointers, while Cortinovis and Höhne kept working in the paint. UFAB went into the fourth quarter being down by 7pts (25-32). At the 5min mark, UFAB was still trailing 35-41, then it was Brossais, who got fouled by a lay-up, and the defender didn't like that call (it was her 5th), and complained, which got her another technical. Brossais hit 3 of the 4 free throws, and the UFAB girls scored another basket in the next position, which made it a 40-41pt-game. Nantes got fouled and hit one of the free-throws to make it a 2pt-lead, and then it was Besson, who hit a three-pointer to take over the lead for the first time during the game with 2:06 left (43-42). Nantes contered with a 3 (43-45), and then it was once again Brossais, who knocked down a 3 to take a one-point lead with less than 40sec left. UFAB defended well, got the rebound and was immediately fouled. Favre stepped to the free throw line, scoring one of two (47-45) with 6sec left. Nantes was able to get another shot off, who didn't go in, and UFAB grabbed the rebound and became the winner!!! With this victory the UFAB team moves into the quarterfinals, which will be hosted together with one of the semifinals in Angers.

There can be only one Number1
On Saturday, March 10th, the two leaders of Group A met. Angers had not lost a game since the last time those two teams met. Pau on the other side, had lost one game in the regular season and lost in the cup as well.
Angers jumped out right from the start, taking a 8-2 lead. However, Pau wouldn't let Angers slip away and tied the game at 10-10. They even took over the lead with 21-19 at the end of the first quarter. Also, in the second quarter it was a close game and UFAB went into the lockers with a 37-35 lead at halftime. In the third quarter, UFAB had the better start, advancing to a 6pt-lead (43-37, 34th min) and even as many 56-44 at the end of the third quarter. The UFAB fans carried their hosts also through the fourth quarter, where they were still leading 67-55 in the 9th min. UFAB needed a 13pt-win since they had lost the first game by 12. However, Pau's point guard had a problem with this, draining another three and scoring another basket, so that Pau came within five points. Another basket by the hosts within the last seconds led to the 69-62 win for Angers, who is now the leader of the West group.

THE Game
Saturday, March 10th is THE game everybody has been waiting for - Angers vs. Pau! Pau has since the last meeting of those teams lost one game and lost in the cup. Before the game on Satuday will the 2nd team of the club compete against the team that kicked Pau out of the cup...if that isn't a sign ;-)
Successful also as coach
After a tough weekend with two games, the 3rd team of UFAB is still the top team in the RF2. Friday the girls of Juliane had to travel to Touvois, where they expected a tough game against the 2nd place team. The conditions weren't the best, a cold gym with street floor instead of wood, and a rather unfair audience. However, after a bad start, the girls of Juliane found back to their game and took over the lead. In the second half the girls were leading by as many as 14pts before they started to get nervous and the game got a little bit more exciting again. However, UFAB managed to get it done and won 55-49 over Touvois for the 2nd time this season. On Sunday, UFAB was playing against Ancenis, one of the two teams that had beaten the UFAB girls before. The game was played at Ecouflant to do a favor to their club in the sport event that day. Apparently the girls of Juliane were still tired from Friday's game or from partying the night before, because they had a rather difficult start, which showed the only 6pt-halftime lead. However, in the second half they did a better job, and pulled away, so that all girls could play a good amount of time. With the 19pt-victory over Ancenis, the third team of UFAB is defending their first place in the table.

Constantely improving
On Feb 18th, UFAB went to Thouars to take home two easy points, which they did. They came out strong, leading 11-24 after the first quarter and 23-45 at half time. A really strong 3rd quarter (4-19) let the UFAB girls improve to 27-64, before they were a little bit slacking in the last quarter (15-15), but the victory was still clear with 42-79.

The following weekend the UFAB girls had to travel to Paris to take on St. Gratien in the cup. The game started of 7-0 for the hosts, because they are competing in NF2. After a close first quarter (20-22), the UFAB girls put on a show, allowing only 3 pts in the 2nd quarter, while scoring 26 to finish the first half with 23-48. Also, in the second half, the UFAB girls wouldn't slow down, putting the hosts behind them with a 50pt-difference (43-93)!!!!

Many people were wondering how the UFAB girls could improve after those last victories, but they showed that it is possible. After a 37pt-win over Thouars, a 50pt-win over St. Gratien, followed a 61pt-win (!!!!) over La Couronne! Even though the hosts seemed to be able to prevent a huge blow out, trailing by only 15pts at half time, they weren't aware of the 2nd half strength of UFAB! The girls of Head Coach Girandiere scored impressive 37 pts in the third quarter, while only allowing 8 of the hosts, and didn't let it stop in the last quarter (12-29). Therefore, the UFAB girls reached for the first time this season the 100pt mark and won with the highest difference this season (103-42).

After those outstanding performances, everybody is looking forward to next weekends game between the two leaders, Pau and Angers. Even though the continuity of Angers is doubtful (40pts, 50pts, 60pts,....against Pau 70?), a win with more than 12pts will do it :)

It happens
As much as the UFAB team was able to hit last weekend, as much they seemed to miss in today's game vs. Colomiers. Nothing would go through the rim, which also showed the first half score. A bad second quarter with 8-4, led to a 25-13 at half time! Also, in the second half the points didn't increase by many, except during the last few minutes, when the guests decided to give up. Therefore, UFAB ended the game with 58-39, although the game was closer than the score shows.

On point
On point was the performance of the UFAB team tonight. They left no doubt, who would leave the floor as winner, starting off the game with a 14-0 run before the hosts were able to score their first points. UFAB even improved to impressive 28-3 before they ended the first half with 38-11. Also, in the second half, the guests continued to hit high percentage shots, while the hosts didn't seem to be able to score in their own gym. The game ended 67-30 for UFAB vs. Nantes.

Next Round in Cup Games reached
On January 28th, UFAB traveled to La Garnache for the next round in Cup Games. The UFAB girls had to play without their Power Forward Cortinovis, but therefore had a younger second team player, Chateau, with them. The game started of 7-0 for the hosts, who play in NF2. This lead wouldn't last long as UFAB took over with 10-9. After Coach Girandiere changed the whole starting five, some turnovers and distraction started to sneak in, which let the hosts take back over. Girandiere was forced to put his starting five back in in the second quarter, which then managed to gain again the lead and head to the lockers with 46-36. In the second half, the UFAB girls were more focused. It was especially Carine Brossais, who lead the girls on offense. Even a zone press wouldn't slow UFAB down, winning the third quarter 14-28 and the last quarter with 11-20. Therefore, UFAB advances to the 16th cup games.

Solid Win
On January 21st, UFAB hosted Poire-sur-Vie. The first game, UFAB was able to win, but by the smallest difference among all games. Also, the girls of Coach Girandiere were first able to take the lead in the last quarter, after they were running behind almost all game. This shouldn't happen this weekend, even though UFAB was without two of their players, Johanna Cortinovis and Melodie DeSousa.
UFAB started the game off well, and took a 15-10 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, both teams played equally, so that this quarter ended tied, and UFAB went into the lockers with a 5point lead (29-24). Coach Girandiere made his point clear, and the UFAB girls tried to put his requests on the court by winning both of the quarters in the second half, finishing the game with 66-47.

Taking over
Like every weekend, Juliane played Saturday night and coached Sunday. Today was the game of her team (2nd place) vs. the third place (Cholet). The first game of the season was lost by 7points after a terrible first half (24-13). The game plan was to not repeat the same mistakes, but also this time the game was promised to be a low scoring game. After the first half, UFAB was leading 15-14 and had trouble scoring against Cholet's Zone, but they weren't doing any better on offense. The game was also most times in second half open, and only short before the end the UFAB girls were able to gain a small lead, which they kept until the end. UFAB won 42-35, and in therefore two wins before Cholet. Furthermore, did the first placed team Falleron Touvois lose to the 4th placed team, which puts now Falleron and UFAB tied with the same score. Since UFAB beat Falleron in the first match, the team of Juliane takes now over the first place and looks forward to keep it that way for the rest of the season!
No doubts
For the first season game of the new year, UFAB traveled to Feytiat. The girls of Head Coach Girandiere were warned about Feytiat, who signed two new players since they met the first time. The first game, UFAB was able to win by a 21-point margin. UFAB started off the game of well, however, in the 7th minute, their power forward, Johanna Cortinovis, sprained her ankle and was out for the game. However, the UFAB girls didn't let that slow down their game. They were already leading at halftime by 15points, and looked to increase that lead in the second half. Despite foul trouble on all positions, UFAB ended up winning the game clearly with 94-52!
Juliane didn't see too much action in this game due to foul trouble. She scored one of the three shots she took, but collected therefore more assists.

First Cup Game
On Saturday, Jan 7th, UFAB had to travel to Coulaines for the first Cup Game of the season. Coulaines competes in NF2 and started therefore the game with a 7-pt-lead. Coulaines also scored the first points in the game to improve to as much as 14-4 before UFAB took over. It didn't take too long until UFAB showed who were the favorites and gained the lead. At the end, it was just a question of how high the lead would be. UFAB ended up winning the game 82-55 and improves to the top32 teams in the cup.
With a win UFAB goes into Christmas break
Before Christmas, UFAB hosted Ifs for the first game of the second round. UFAB had problems on the inside, since Marion Devynck was still sidelined, Sophie LeMarrek slightly injured her back in warming up, and Juliane had only practice one time with the team before this game.
Juliane entered the game already in the first quarter, when UFAB was leading 15-12. The hosts were able to keep the small lead until half-time (34-29). In second half, the team stepped up the defense, only allowing 18pts in second half. UFAB ended up winning 62-47 and securing the second place with a 11-1 record.
Juliane played decent considering, she was out for a month, and only had one team practice before. She also had twisted her ankle Saturday morning, which didn't make it easier. Juliane missed all shots with her right hand, but we can be sure that she will be fully recovered when she returns after Christmas.

Clearly separated
Clearly separated are the first two teams now from the rest of the teams below in the table. UFAB hosted Poitiers, the 3rd team, on Saturday. The game was open for the most party, especially in the first half both teams were close even though UFAB was able to gain a small lead (37-31 at halftime). At this point , Marion Devynck sprained her ankle badly, which left an opening in the center position with Juliane still being injured as well.
Also, in the third quarter UFAB wasn't able to get further ahead, still keeping the small lead. It was mainly the youngster, Valentine Gautier, who shows courage and aggressivity on offense scoring most of the points for her team due to Aurelia Favre being in foul trouble. In the last quarter, Poitiers then totally lost control, trying to get involved into fights with players of UFAB due to bad referrees. However, UFAB used that to an awesome last quarter with 23-5, finishing the game with a 26pt-lead (79-53). With this win UFAB improves to a 9-1 record, while the next teams behind stay at 6-4.

Back on track
After a two-week preparation time, UFAB travelled to Rennes to get back on the winning track. This time without Juliane and Elise Viera, who were both injured, but therefore with two younger players. UFAB started off a little nervous, but then didn't leave any doubt, who would be the winner. The hosts had too many turnovers, which UFAB used for easy baskets. At a halftime, UFAB led 31-13. In the second half, Rennes played zone, which gave UFAB a hard time because they weren't able to score from the outside, and also let some easy fast break baskets slip away. However, due to a great first half, UFAB ended up winning 64 - 45.

First Loss of the Season
The game between the two top teams became the first loss of the season for UFAB. The game was close for the whole first half. Pau was able to win both quarters with 16-15. In the third quarter, Pau was able to gain a lead after finishing the third quarter 22-12. In the fourth quarter, UFAB wasn't able to cut the lead down, playing 18-18 and finishing the game 60-72, while currently being down by as many as 18points. Pau was dominating the game from the three-point-line, where two players (Gueye&Brestovanska) were able to get open shots as they wanted.

UFAB got the job done
Also this Saturday, the UFAB girls did the job done and received another victory. This time the guests were La Couronne, and they also experienced the strength of UFAB at home. After the first quarter, UFAB led 18-11 and advanced to a 20point-lead at halftime (39-19). Also, the last two quarters were won by UFAB, so that the final score was 87-57.

Biggest victory so far
UFAB hosted Thouars this Saturday, a team they played already twice in pre-season and won each time with more than 20pts. This game, the same effort was needed and UFAB showed it. Right from the start, the host didn't leave no doubt "who's house" it is. At half-time, UFAB led 42-22, and continued its pace also in the second half. UFAB won 86-40 and keeps the first place in the table with a still undefeated record.

UFAB keeps on winning
UFAB traveled this weekend to the south of France. The team left already Friday to be fit on Saturday for the game vs. Colomiers, and they were. UFAB had already at halftime a 18point-lead (41-23). In the second half, Colomiers started to play a full-court press, which gave UFAB trouble. A couple of times, UFAB lost the ball in the back court, and Colomiers was able to cut the lead to just 9points at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, UFAB was able to play out the press, and Colomiers had to rest some players at the bench due to foul trouble, which had happened to UFAB earlier on as well. In the fourth quarter, UFAB was able to run a lot of fast breaks, which led to easy points and a 21-point lead at the end of the game. UFAB wins 74-53 and improves to 5-0 together with Pau.
Juliane played only short time due to 2 early fouls at the beginning of the game. She scored 4 points in about 11min of playing time.

UFAB grows with every game
This weekend, UFAB hosted Nantes, one of the supposed to be strongest teams in the league. However, this was not seen this Saturday. UFAB came out strong, finally after bad starts in the first three games. The hosts took a 9-0 lead, and then 14-4 before the guests were able to score a couple baskets to make it 21-10 (10th min). In the second half, the girls of Head Coach Girandiere kept the tempo up and went with 37-23 in the locker rooms at halftime. In the third quarter, the hosts weren't able to extend the lead by too many points, so that Nantes still had hope to stay in the game. However, they never came closer than 12pts. UFAB finally managed to keep a 16-point lead after the third quarter and increased it to as many as 22pts in the fourth quarter. The final score read 66-47, and put the UFAB girls 4-0.
Juliane played a decent game, scoring 8 of her 11points in the second half.

Still undefeated
On Saturday, UFAB was hosted by Poire-sur-Vie, a team that is trying to achieve a place under the top4 in the league. The game started of being close (17-17 9th min), but shortly before the end the host were able to clinch a 5point-lead (22-17 10th min). The hosts would extend the lead to 28-18 before UFAB was able to score a basket from the field. Poire-sur-Vie was able to keep a lead until halftime (34-27). In the second half, the UFAB girls turned the speed up again cutting down the lead to 37-33, before they were able to clinch the lead at the end of the 3rd quarter (44-45). From then on, the UFAB girls didn't look back, advancing to 48-51 and a 5-point-lead before a fire alarm interrupted the game, but even this couldn't change the outcome of the game anymore. UFAB managed to get ahead 51-60 before Poire-sur-Vie made two free-throws to the final 53-60.
Juliane was not able to finish around the basket, and scored therefore only 4points. However, she played strong defense on the other end.

UFAB defends home court well
Also, in their first home game, UFAB dominated their opponent. Once again they started off slow (16-16 10th min), but became better with every minute. At half-time, the team of Head Coach Girandiere had this time a 8point lead (36-28), which they increased during the second half. At one point, UFAB was ahead by 28pts, which showed their superiority. UFAB ended up winning 75-54 to improve their record to 2-0. Next weekend, they will face Poire-sur-Vie, which wants to obtain a place under the Top4, which should make the game more exciting. In Pre-Season, both teams had faced each other before, and UFAB won the game by 8points.

UFAB starts the season off right
After a bad start in the first game (8-0 4th min), the girls of Head Coach Girandiere slowly fought their way back into the game (10-8 10th min). However, the nervosity stuck to the team for the whole first 20minutes (22-21 20th min), before they started to overcome their difficulties on offense and dominated as expected. Especially Aurelie Besson led the team on offense scoring 17pts. UFAB finished the 3rd quarter with 23-11 (33-44 30th min), and increased the lead to 22points by the end of the 4th quarter (40-62). Unfortunately, Johanna Courtinovis got injured 2minutes before the end of the game, and time will tell how severe her injury is.
Juliane played a decent game, scoring most of her points in the second half and holding the other post player to 0 points.

Payback
After the first loss on Wednesday, UFAB arrived ready at Thouarcé, where they would take on Playber-Christ, a team of league 2. They came out ready to play, not leaving Pleyber-Christ a chance. The first quarter was already won high, but at half-time, UFAB advanced to 44-16. It was a total team effort, where all players were able to score, and especially the shooting guards, Elise Prodhomme and Elise Viera, knocked down every open shot. Already at the end of the third quarter, UFAB was leading by 30points, and also was able to keep this lead, although some really questionable refree-decisions were made in the last quarter. Pleyber-Christ was missing two players, but it is not sure, if they could have prevented the defeat. Next Saturday, both teams will eventually face each other again, hopefully for a repeat of UFAB's win.
First Loss of the pre-season
UFAB had to take a loss on Wednesday evening versus Nantes. The team of Coach David started off well for the first time, winning the first quarter 15-20. Also, after the second quarter. UFAB was able to keep a small lead. However, after the halftime, UFAB broke totally in, losing the third quarter 6-22 to Nantes, which cost them the match. UFAB ended up losing 57-67 to Nantes. The team wasn't complete due to some injured players, A. Besson and J. Cortinovis. UFAB will face Nantes again in a week for a re-match.

UFAB is on the best way
This week wasnt easy for the girls of Head Coach Girandière, besides basketball and conditioning sessions, they also had to play their first three exhibition games within 5days. The first game vs. La Roche (LF2) was played on Tuesday. The girls were well rested, and were able to play according to all the assignments Coach Girandière gave them each quarter. The UFAB girls led mostly the whole game and ended up winning 58-50. Even though the outcome of the game was not important to Coach Girandière, it was an accomplishment winning again the higher league team also because they had started their preseason earlier than UFAB.
On Friday, UFAB traveled to Poire-sur-Vie for a second exhibition game. The girls were all tired from the previous practice sessions, but also kept the lead most of the game. The girls played more and more together and learned to find the open man, also on the defensive end, the team showed improvement. The game was won 69-61 by UFAB.
On Saturday, UFAB hosted Thouars for the last exhibitiongame of this week. Everyone was exhausted, which showed at the beginning of the game. The girls of Coach Girandière weren't able to gain a bigger lead until the end of the second quarter. From then, they never looked back and won the game with a 17point lead (70-53). With each game, the girls showed improvement, which shows that the team is on the right way. Next week Friday, UFAB will face Thouars again for another exhibition game, before traveling to Poitiers and Nantes.

Practice a little bit different
After the exhibition game vs. La Roche on Aug 16th, which was pretty well played for a first exhibition game and won with 58-50, the players were right back in the gym on Wednesday morning to work on mistakes, which happened in the game. On Wednesday afternoon, the coaches thought of a different way of practice. This time their players would not run across the court, but rather climb across walls. It was a good practice for coordination, patience, strength and balance. Below you are able to see a short video of the practice session.
UFAB49 signs Höhne
Juliane signed with UFAB49 (Union Feminine Angers Basket 49) for the upcoming season. The preseason will start on August 4th, while the first game is scheduled for September 17th, although the schedule is not yet released.

Wildcats Season ends in first round of Play-offs
The Wildcats faced Saarlouis, the third place team in the league, in the first round of play-offs. The first game was played on March 25th in Saarlouis. The hosts put pressure on the Wildcats right from the start, which put the Wildcats 26:8 behind. Also, the second quarter wasn't much better, which resulted in a 46:25 halftime score. In the second half, the Wildcats showed their strength and were even able to come as close as 4points (64:60), but then the baskets wouldn't fall any longer, which forced the Wildcats to foul. However, Saarlouis was highly concentrated and knocked down free throws, which gave Saarlouis a 71:60 win.
Points: Callahan 13 (3Assists), Bartee 10, Berger 10 (6Rebounds), Höhne 7 (7Rebounds), Kulite 6, Zaidi 5 (4Assists), Flasarova 4 (4Assists), Tulikihihifo 3, Hartwich 2, Wessels.
The second game, was played two days later, and was a repeat of the first match. The hosts were able to jump ahead, finishing the first quarter 19:9, and extending the lead to 35:21 at halftime. In the second time, Saarlouis was able to come close again. They came within one point (52:51), before the Wildcats were able to finish the game (58-53) and tie the series 1-1.

The third game promised to be as closed as all other games Saarlouis and Wolfenbüttel had played this season, however, that this wasn't the case for this match showed early in the game when Charmaine Callahan sprained her ankle and was out for the game. This brought big problems for the Wildcats since without Callahan and Berger, the other 3 Germans had to take the two German spots on the court. Saarlouis won the first quarter 22:14, and increased the lead to 38:22 at half-time. Also, the second half, which is usually the time of the Wildcats didn't bring no change. Saarlouis went ahead with 60:33 before the Wildcats won the last quarter 6:17 to prevent a blow-out victory (final score: 66:50).

Wildcats come back empty-handed
The Wildcats, which had made the Top4 for the German Cup, had to return empty-handed. On Saturday, the team of Vlastibor Klimes faced the host Wasserburg. Early on the hosts were on fire, hitting 62% of their shots in the first half, which brought them a fast lead. Especially in the second quarter, Wolfenbüttel only scored 7points, which put the team 21:53 behind at half time. However, the Wildcats didn't give in and fought until the end, winning the second half by 2points. But the difference was too big to cut down, and Wasserburg improved to the final.
On Sunday, Wolfenbüttel faced Marburg, which had lost the day before 64:67 to Donau-Ries. This loss was a big disappointment since Marburg had high expectations on winning the cup, and therefore were the favorit in the game against the 6th ranked team from Wolfenbüttel. Marburg seemed to have their difficulties with Wolfenbüttel, so that neither team could claim a bigger lead. At half-time, Marburg led 37-35. In the third quarter, Wolfenbüttel was able to claim a 5point lead, which would not last long. In the last quarter, the shots weren't falling any longer, so that Marburg got the lead back. The lead increased in the end since Wolfenbüttel's only chance to foul did not pay off. Wolfenbüttel fell 67-58 to Marburg, and lost therefore the bronze medal.
Points vs. Wasserburg:
Flasarova 17 (3Ast), Berger 9 (5Reb), Callahan 6, Höhne 5 (6Reb, 3Blk), Zaidi 5, Kulite 4, Hartwich 3, Tulikihihifo 2, Wessels
Points vs. Marburg:

Wildcats lose to Halle
The Wildcats lost the last game of the regular season to Halle. It was the first game, which was lost at home in the new year and that to a lower ranked team. The result didn't matter for the Wildcats anymore, but Halle needed a win to secure the last available play-off seat.
Halle dominated most of the game, although the Wildcats were able to tie the game at the end of the third quarter, which showed once again their 2nd half strength. However, Halle wanted it more and secured the 58-65 victory.

Also, the last quarter went to the team of Wolfenbüttel to win the game with a final score of 78:70. More was possible
The Wildcats lost on Sunday, Feb 20th, to HELI Donau-Ries with 75-64 (37:30). After an open first quarter (20-19), the Wildcats couldn't keep up with good defense the whole game. Especially two players kept the Wildcats busy. Morgan Henderson and Dasa Rajecka combined for 49points and 23rebounds, which was more rebounds than the whole Wolfenbüttel team together grabbed!!! A couple minutes before the end, Donau-Ries was leading by as many as 17points. The Wildcats were able to cut down the lead to 11 at the end, but the victory for Donau-Ries was never in danger.

A win is a win
The Wildcats played a close match vs. the ChemCats on Sunday afternoon. The game was open for the most part of the first half. Wolfenbüttel went with a 3point lead into the lockers (39-36). Chemnitz had shown great shooting from the distance, which kept them well in the game.
After the half, the Wildcats, which were playing without their topscorer Ofa Tulikihihifo, were able to extend their lead to as many as 8points. However, before the quarter was finished, the Chemcats were able to tie the game once again. In the last quarter, Chemnitz looked like the dominating team, increasing their lead. By as many as 13points with 6minutes to go, Chemnitz looked already like the winner. However, Wolfenbüttel started the race to cut down the lead paced by Katarina Flasarova, Juliane Höhne and Charmaine Callahan. Once again Chemnitz kept making shots from a distance, which kept the game really close. With one minute to go the Wildcats claimed the lead, which they would not give away even though Chemnitz had the chance to tie the game or even win it with a three. At the end, Wolfenbüttel won 75-73, which was a success even though Chemnitz was the last placed team in the table. However, looking at the personal situation of Wolfenbüttel with injuries, and sickness in the team, it was important to win this game and secure the play-off spot.

Not all good things come in threes
After the two wins vs. USC Freiburg, BC Wolfenbüttel lost this time and this very clear. The Wildcats had a good start, leading after the first quarter 26-21, and even in the second quarter, they were still able to keep a small lead at half time (37-36), although already a few mistakes and negligence was noticable.
After the break, Wolfenbüttel was able to extend the lead, and get ahead 46-53 in the 29th minute, then the team broke in. Within 3minutes, which were interrupted by the quarterbreak and a timeout, the Wildcats couldn't score, and Freiburg on the other side was on fire. Freiburg produced a 22-0 run to take over 68-53 in the 32nd minute. Freiburg was even able to extend the lead up to 20points, which the Wildcats could reduce again before the end, but not enough to turn the game again. Freiburg won the game 84-68, and therefore moved up the ranks to place 5, while Wolfenbüttel dropped to the 7th place. The Wildcats look now forward to a victory versus Chemnitz, who is currently last in the league.

Wildcats unbeatable
The Wildcats hosted Saturday evening the 8th placed team of BBVL Eagles. It was a must win game, not only to secure the 5th play-off spot in the table, but also for the minds of Klimes' players, who hadn't won one game in Lindenhalle this season. Also, the beginning didn't look like a victory, the Wildcats overslept the start and were down 6:0 and 12:5 (5th min) , but then the team started to wake up and was able to take over the lead by a basket of Suska Berger to 18-17. From that point on, the Wildcats never looked back. They finished the first quarter with 20:17, just to bring a furious game in the second quarter. The wildcats overran Leipzig literally, finishing this quarter with 24:9, which gave them a 44:26 halftime advantage.
In the third quarter, Wolfenbüttel seemed to struggel for a moment, let Leipzig come within 10points, but then was led again by the strong playing Carla Bartee, who scored 27pts and grabbed 11rebounds. The Wildcats also won the third (30:25) and the fourth quarter (26:23), while Leipzig had times where they weren't able to score any basket. Therefore, they were able to come a little closer in the end as the Wildcats focused too much on snapping the 100-mark and left the defense hanging, which led to eas points on Eagles site. The Wildcats cracked the 100point mark in the last 2seconds, when Carla Bartee hit her 6th three-pointer of the game, she was 6/6 from behind the arc. Wolfenbüttel won the game with 100-74.

Wildcats show team effort
Saturday evening, the wildcats of Head Coach Vlastibor Klimes had a hard match infront of them against Rhein-Main Baskets. Not only was it the opponent, who they had to play for four overtimes in the first match to come up with a victory (113-116), but also did they have to play without their leading scorer, Ofa Tulikihihifo, who return back home due to a family mourning. The Wildcats started off determinated, winning the first quarter 27:19. The next two quarters, the Wildcats were able to win with two points each, but still allowed the opponent easy baskets due to mistakes in the defensive rotation. However, everytime the team of Rhein-Main was about to come close to the 10point-margin, one of the wildcats stepped up and knocked down important shots. The Wildcats won every one of the four quarters and that with a total team effort, which can be seen in the 20 assists and that every player scored. Even though their top scorer was missing, the Wildcats were on fire on the offensive end, scoring over 90points. The defense is still improvable, but it was an important and invulnerable victory.

BC Wildcats give victory out of hand
On Saturday evening, the Wildcats had to travel to the current top team in 1. DBBL, BC Marburg. It was a hard, but not impossible task. The Wildcats jumped out on a quick start, taking the lead 2-7. Then Marburg found their way back in the game to take the lead 18-11 by the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, Wolfenbüttel was able to claim the lead back and take it with them into the locker rooms at half time (30:27). The game was a hard fought match on both sides. In the second half, Marburg gained the lead back but mainly due to missed lay-up chances and easy turnovers on the Wildcats side, which led Marburg to 51-48 (30th min). Marburg was able to get ahead to 60-54 with 4minutes to go, before Wolfenbüttel kept Marburg scoreless for the next 3minutes to catch on to 60-59 with just 1minute to go. However, Wolfenbüttel wasn't able to score the basket to gain the lead back and got called for a foul. Marburg knocked down both free throws, which gave them a 3point-lead. The Wildcats had to go for a three, but missed it, and were forced to foul once again. Marburg scored again both free throws to secure the victory with a 5point-lead to 64-59.

BC Wildcats Wolfenbüttel move into Final Four in Cup Games
Sunday afternoon, the Wildcats had the most exciting game of the cup games to play against USC Freiburg. The Wildcats didn't show what they can do in the first half, missing a lot of shots and losing the ball many times, which put them behind early. Freiburg had a good shooting night and was able to pull away to 22-39 in the 16th minute, which would be their biggest lead of the game. However, the team of Vlastibor Klimes didn't give in and made a short run to cut the lead down to 12 at half-time (31-43). In the second half, the Wildcats showed what they can do and eliminated the lead of Freiburg, so that everything was possible. Especially Ofa Tulikihihifo and Charmaine Callahan played very well, and were a main factor in the Wolfenbüttel team. The first one, was the one, who scored probably the most important basket in the game, after grabbing an offensive rebounds and drawing the "and-one", which put the Wildcats ahead by one. Then once again in defense it was Callahan, who got a steal and was able to run a fast break to extend the lead to three. Another basket shortly before the end lead to the final result 78-73. With this win, the Wildcats are qualified for the Final Four in Cup Games at the end of March, together with TSV Wasserburg, BC Marburg, and HELI Donau-Ries.

Games postponed once again
Due to the blizzard, which had hit Belgium this weekend, all games were cancelled and have to be rescheduled. Juliane won't return to Spirou Monceau after the christmas break.
Another 6point loss to Waregem
Sunday afternoon, Spirou Monceau hosted Waregem for the first game of the back round. Waregem could call on Julie Vanloo again, who had been missing the last few weeks due to pneumonia. However, Waregem had still been strugglng, losing the last two games to lower ranked teams, such as Willebroek and Houthalen. Spiroue Monceau on the other hand came off of two wins (Point Chaud Sprimont and Jeugd Gentson in the cup games), and was looking for a revenge for the 46-40 loss to Waregem three weeks ago.
The game started off even with both teams scoring quite a lot compared to the last game. Waregem was able to take a 4point lead at the end of the first quarter, and extending it to 9 at half time. They took the biggest lead of the game with 22-33 in the second quarter. At this point, Spirou Monceau looked rather desperate and ready to give up. However, the speech of Head Coach Baczai at halftime must have helped because Spirou Monceau came out of the locker room on fire. They played aggressive defense and made shots on the offensive end, which allowed them to go on a 11-0 run adn take the lead with 35-34 in the 24th minute. From that point on, the game was kept open and the lead changed for a few times. Along the stretch, Waregem received a lot of free throws, which most times Vanloo knocked down (8/8 in the game) to secure the 60-66 win for Waregem.
The game was characterized by a lot of foul calls on both sides (27fouls vs. Spirou, 21 vs. Waregem), which put them a lot on the free throw line (Waregem 34times, Spirou 27times). However, both teams didn't book high percentage, but it is known that free throws can decide a game.

With one foot already in the Cup Semi Finals
On Wednesday, Dec 8th, the first quarterfinal game of the cup games for Jeugd Gentson and Spirou Monceau was rescheduled.
Spirou Monceau had a quick start, taking over the lead with 7-2 on a triple and another jumper by Krystal Ballau. However, too many turnovers and easy baskets in 1on1 led Gent back in the game, taking over after 10minutes with 20-16. In the second quarter, Spirou Monceau found their way back into the game, winning this quarter with 20-15, and therefore leading by 1 at halftime. So far a high turnover ratio by the guests (18 at halftime!) allowed the hosts to stay in the game.
In the third quarter, the guests finally pulled away, finishing the third quarter with a 44-52 lead. Spirou Monceau was able to extend the lead to as much as 12points, but a lot of foul calls and not hard enough defense let Gent come within 5points a couple minutes before the end. However, knocking down important shots along the stretch, Spirou Monceau was able to seal the win 64-72.
The re-match will be played on January 12th, 2010 20.30 in Monceau.

Great team effort to seal the win
Sunday, Nov 28th, R. Spirou Monceau hosted Point Chaud Sprimont. The guests were clearly the underdog, since they have only won one game so far. However, the only victory came against the number 1 team of the league, Sint Kateline Waver, and everybody knows especially underdogs can be real dangerous, especially since R. Spirou Monceau has not been playing well at home throughout the season.
Good news for R. Spirou Monceau was that shooting guard Sarah Signore was able to play again, after she had broken her pinky in practice a few weeks ago. The hosts started off strong, but were diminished right from the start due to foul trouble. They were still able to reach a 16-11 lead after the first quarter. Due to more foul problems, Point Chaud Sprimont was able to get back in the game and take over the lead at half time with 32-30. Even though Point Chaud Sprimont was leading at half, the clearly more dominant team was R. Spirou Monceau with taking almost twice as many shots (40 vs. 24 at half) and dominating the boards (27 (15off) vs. 19). After the half time, it was R. Spirou Monceau, who came out strong to put the game away. The third quarter was won 22-4, which caused Point Chaud Sprimont to lose their game trying to come back with lots of three-point shots, which didn’t find the basket. Even though the guests were able to play along in the fourth quarter, they were not able to cut the lead down, and easy mistakes at the end allowed R. Spirou Charleroi to win the game with an even greater point difference.
Once again it wasn’t a great shooting night for R. Spirou Monceau, but the effort on the offensive glass (24 off reb out of 56) and playing together (10ast), brought the win. R. Spirou Monceau had three players in double-digits scoring and three in double-digits rebounding. The best scorers were Michiels (14), Ballau (12), and Hamaide (12), while Höhne, Michiels, and Schmitz grabbed each 10rebounds.
For Point Chaud Sprimont, Theunisses reached a double-double scoring 17pts and grabbing 12rebounds, while E. Mayombo scored 17points as well.

Defense wins games
On Saturday, Nov 20th, Waregem faced Spirou Monceau in a close game. Both teams had injury problems, and were therefore minimized. The team of Head Coach Goethals had the faster start and took over a slight lead, which they were able to keep until the end of the first quarter. Both teams offered a strong defense, which produced a lot of turnovers and for Spirou Monceau also a lot of blocked shots. The strong defense was shown by the low score at half-time: 17-14 for the hosts.
The third quarter ended tied, which still gave Spirou Monceau a 3point-defizit. In the last quarter, Spirou Monceau was able to tie the game with four minutes left, as Valeria Kara completed a three-point-play by scoring a layup and knocking down the free throw. However, even though the defense was kept strong for the rest of the game, Jana Raman dominated the last few minutes on the court and helped her team come up with the win. The final score of the game was 46-40 for Waregem. The two teams will face each other again in a few weeks and hopefully then with all their players.
Top player for Waregem was Jana Raman with 12points and 13rebounds, while for Spirou Monceau Juliane Höhne (12points, 8rebounds), and Krystel Ballau (10points, 7steals) in double-digits scored.

Royal Spirou Monceau without a chance
Sunday afternoon Spirou Monceau hosted Blue Cats Ieper. The team of Head Coach Baczai was without a chance. A high turnover ration, lack of transition defense and a bad field goal percentage, turned in a 20point lead for Ieper at half-time, which Spirou Monceau wasn't able to cut down. In the last quarter, was a small light at the end of the dark tunnel, when Spirou Monceau came within 14points, but gave them away again within one minute, losing 64-82 to Ieper.

Royal Spirou Monceau improves to the cup quarter finals
With a very close win over Basket Libramont on Thursday evening, Spirou Monceau improves to the quarter finals in the cup games, where they will face the winner of the games Gent vs. Ieper.
Libramont had a 5point advantage to start of the game and after a three point basket of Candice Brus even led by 8-0, but Spirou Monceau went on a 0-11 run and was able to quickly tie the game at 8-8 and even extend it to 8-11. Both teams seemed to be able to score easy baskets due to the lack of defense on both sides. Libramont came as close as 33-35, before Spirou Monceau could pull away once againt and go to the lockers with a small lead at half-time (36-43). The goal of the third quarter was to extend the lead, but due to easy mistakes on the defensive end this wouldn't happen. Libramont was able to claim the lead back for the first time in the third quarter, leading 51-50. Spirou Monceau managed to get ahead right at the end of the quarter thanks to a hot shooting hand of Krystal Ballau (52-57). In the forth quarter, Spirou Monceau never gave up the lead and was able to extend it up to 10points (58-68), and it looked like they would be able to put Libramont away as they were up by 9points with 4minutes to go (61-70). However, once again bad defense on the guests side and not falling shots, Libramont was able to come within two points after a three pointer and two quick lay-ups by Amandine Halin (70-72). Spirou Monceau was leading by two points and expected a full court press or at least an easy foul, but that wasn't the case. Spirou Monceau was able to play down the time, and finish the game 74-72.
Top Scorers for Libramont: Brus 29, Halin 20, and Lebrun 15.

Royal Spirou Monceau with the better end
Saturday evening Houthalen hosted Spirou Monceau for an interesting match. It was predicted that this game would tip the scales, who will make the play-offs. The game was close for most part of the game. Even though Houthalen was able to clinch a two-point lead after the first quarter (21:19), the team of Head Coach Baczai fought back into the game, gaining the lead. Both teams stepped the defense up, and didn't allow as many points anymore. Houthalen was able to gain a 3point-lead by a 3pointer right before the end of the first half and went into the lockerrooms with a 34-31 score. In the third quarter, Spirou Monceau claimed the lead again, led by their post player Juliane Höhne, finishing the third quarter 44-46. Also, in the forth quarter neither team was able to get ahead. Even though Spirou Monceau seemed to be a little ahead of the hosts, a couple minutes before the end, it was Houthalen, who took over the scoreboard, leading by 2points. With about 40seconds left in the game and Spirou Monceau owning the ball, Krystel Ballau and Juliane Höhne played pick and role to try to get the ball inside, which also worked. However, Höhne wasn't able to get a shot off because of doubling. However, she successfully passed the ball to Ballau at the three-point line, who knocked down the three with just 20seconds left in the game to improve to 55-54. Houthalen had another attack to win the game. Even the missed shot was rebounded by Rhona McKenzie, who had once again 15rebounds (9 offensive). However, she was not able to score on the lay-up, and the rebound came in the hands of Spirou Monceau, who then won the game since Houthalen ran out of time.
Best performance for Spirou Monceau had Juliane Höhne, scoring 16points, adding 14rebounds, along with 3assists. Vigrinie Michiels scored 10points.
For Houthalen, Crelot scored 18points.

Royal Spirou Monceau falls short to Willebroek
On Sunday afternoon, Royal Spirou Monceau hosted Basket Groot Willebroek. Both teames started equally in the game and the first quarter was finished with a one point lead for Willebroek (18-19). In the second quarter, Willebroek took over the game, lef by their two guards: Karen Hendrickx and Haike Hedebouw. Both combined for 24points of their 37 at half time. The team of Head Coach Stephane Baczai seemed to have the same issue as in the last weeks game, too many turnovers and not be able to make baskets. In the third quarter, that seemed to be the problem for both teams. Neither one was able to make shots, but Spirou Monceau missed the chance to cut the lead down, so that the quarter ended with 6-8 for Willebroek. In the forth quarter, Willebroek continued to be the more aggressive team, by going to the basket, drawing fould and getting offensive rebounds, while this was lacking on the side of the host. This aggressiveness of the Willebroek guards was shown by the amount of free throws they shot. Willebroek made 22 of 26 free thows, by which 16 of 18 were shot by Hendricks and Hedebouw. Willebroek won the game deserved with 47-61, claiming their second win of the season. Hendricksx finished the game with 27points, 7rebounds and 3steals, adding up to an evalutation of 32. Hedebouw scored 14points, grabbed 6rebounds and handed out 3assists.
For Spirou Monceau Virginie Michiels had the best performance of the night, scoring 11points, while grabbing 8rebounds, and 3steals.
Juliane scored 7points, grabbed 4rebounds, and added 2steals along with an assist and a block.

Royal Spirou Monceau beats Jeugdson Gent
After a bad start in the first quarter (14-16), Spirou Monceau fought their way back into the game claiming the lead and keeping it until halftime (23-26). The first half wasn't very pretty to watch because Spirou Monceau produced lots of turnovers (14) and did not find their play against the zone defense of Gent. In the second half, Spirou Monceau got adjusted to the zone, decreasing the turnovers, which were still more than enough (23 over the game), producing more assists and therefore more baskets. Also, the referees seemed to be interested in calling fouls equally now after 9 of Spirou Monceau and 1 of Jeugdson Gent in the first half, so that Spirou Monceau was able to extand the lead and go into the last quarter with a 8point lead (31-44). At the end Spirou Monceau was able to win the game clarily by as much as 41-58 and improve to 2-2 in league play.
Juliane scored 6points, grabbed 4rebounds, dished out 5assists and blocked 1shot.

Lexington Lightning Team folds
Due to their high loss versus Columbus Hidden Gems and not enough players, the team decided to fold and not to attend the regional finals in Flint, Michigan in August. Juliane is now back in Europe and available for try-outs.
Lexington Lightning without any chance
Last weekend, July 17th, the Lightning traveled to Columbus to take on the Hidden Gems. After they were able to take the game into overtime the last time they faced the team, they started into the game with confidence. However, the Hidden Gems made sure to show who was the better team that evening. Even though the halftime-score left still all possiblities open (29-23 for Columbus), it was already visibily who was the more dominant team. In the second half, the team of Head Coach Hawkins was not able to find back into the game.
