Juliane Kathrin Höhne was born on May 4th 1983 in Halle (Saale), Germany. As the daughter of a National Player, Dr. Evelyne Höhne, and a Coach, Rainer Liedtke, she has been always in the gym and it was only a question of time until she would start playing Basketball. Juliane attended her first official Basketball practice on November 22nd, 1993 at the age of 10, although she has always been in the gym. She started her youth career with the German club BC 69 Halle (later SV Halle), where she became quite successful winning several Youth Championship Titles. With the age of 14 she already played in the 2nd Regionalliga and with 16 years in the 1st Regionalliga. In 2000, Juliane was able to compete in 1st Regionalliga and 2nd Bundesliga due to her young age, as well as the U18 Youth team. At this point, Basketball was still just a hobby to her, while she was a full-time student at the high school Latina August Hermann Francke, where she graduated in 2002 majoring in Mathematics and Biology. The following year, Juliane decided to absolve a voluntary social year in a home for handicapped children, before beginning her studies in Biochemistry at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg a year later. Not only did the academic part in her life change, but also the Basketball life. In the same year, she transferred to BBV Leipzig to play in 1st Bundesliga, the highest league in Germany. After completing the pre-diploma in 2005, Juliane decided to take her game across the ocean and continue her studies and playing in the United States of America. After a few offers from different colleges across the States, she decided to go to Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), where she would stay from 2005-2008. It was the first time for her to be far away from home and her family. In 2008, Juliane graduated with a Master of Science in Biology from IPFW. However, already in 2007 Juliane had the dream of playing Basketball professionally and for some reason her goal was to play in Italy. And this dream should become true on July 12th, 2008, when she signed her first professional contract with a new team in A2 Italy, A.S. San Martino di Lupari, but this was just the beginning of her professional career...
The first year as Professional, Juliane helped A.S. San Martino di Lupari to accomplish their goal and stay in A2. However, the club decided to sign another player for the upcoming season.
Therefore, Juliane moved in 2009/10 to a team in NF2, France - Evreux Athletic Club. The signing was made early September, which didn't allow the team much time to get to know each other on the court. However, Juliane became the leader of her new team in short time and advanced as top scorer in the league. She was awarded with the MVP of NF2 Group Northwest after the season, and helped her team to reach a 4th placed, which was more than most people had expected after the promotion in this league a season ago.
Some of her summer time, Juliane spent in the United States of America, where she was asked to join the team in Lexington together with her ex-college teammate Johnna Lewis-Carlisle. Both played with the Lexington Lightning two games before Juliane had to return home and the team decided to fold.
For the following season, Palmyra Odessa, a team in the 1st Ukrainian division, inked a contract with Juliane. However, Juliane never received a plane ticket and shortly later the league was cancelled. The team was still interested in keeping Juliane, since the league was supposed to be postponed, but Juliane decided to cancel her contract and play for a different team since playing was the most important to her. In October, she signed with Spirou Monceau Charleroi, a team in Belgian D1, which was already in the season (3games played). Juliane adapted fast, and became the 7th best rebounder in the league during her stay in Belgium. However, the club didn't keep all the articles of the contract, which led to Juliane's departure to Christmas. For the new year, Juliane had offers from teams in D1, Germany and D2, Spain. She decided to sign with BC Wolfenbüttel in Germany to stay with a team in a first division. Once again, Juliane was asked to adapt shortly to a new team and she accomplished also this task. The team became 6th in the regular season. They lost in the first round of play-offs due to some injured players. In the Germany Cup, Wolfenbüttel reached the Top4, which was a great accomplishment. For the new season, Juliane had a couple offers from other German D1 Teams, and also Wolfenbüttel wanted to keep Juliane for the upcoming season. However, due to money issues and time running out, Juliane decided to sign with another team.
In 2011/12, Juliane played for Union Féminine Angers Basket 49, a team in NF1, France. The goal of the team was the promotion in LF2, and win the French Cup. Both goals were reached. UFAB49 finished first in the regular season, and second in the play-offs, which was enough to be promoted. Also, in the French Cup, they won the Gold medal, which was Juliane's first Senior medal.
For the 2012/13 season, Juliane decided to return to a more professional league, which can provide videos and stats. She signed with the GiroLive Panthers Osnabrück to help the team reach their goal of staying in the league. The GiroLive Panthers accomplished this goal early, so that they could focus on higher goals. They finished third in regular season, and also continued to play well in the play offs, which brought them a Bronze medal. Juliane was named to the All-Domestic Team in DBBL 2012/13.
For the 2013/14 season, Juliane signed with BG Donau-Ries to play for the Friendsfactory Baskets. The team's goal was to reach the semifinals in the league, which wasn't accomplished. Instead the team had to fight to stay in the league, and saved it with a 10th place at the end of the season. Another goal was a good place in the German cup. In this category the Friendsfactory Baskets were more successful and won the Bronze medal.
